Who Are the Lean With Plants Coaches?
How coaching works, how you are matched, and what your coach actually does week to week.
Lean With Plants clients work one-on-one with a dedicated coach from the LWP coaching team. The coaches include Abbie, Heidi and Jordan, and Ami is the head coach. Lean With Plants is a 12-week one-on-one plant-based weight loss coaching program for women founded by Chelsea Mae Cullen, and every coach on the team is trained in the LWP method: calorie density for nutrition, fitness and movement, and the STACK Method for habits and accountability. You can see the current team on the coaches page.
The more useful question is not who they are on paper. It is what a coach actually does for you, and why having one changes the outcome. That is what the rest of this covers.
One coach, not a rotating cast
This matters more than it sounds.
You are assigned a dedicated coach. The same person, for the whole 12 weeks. She learns your schedule, your household, your job, your knees, your history with dieting, and the specific place where things tend to come apart for you.
That continuity is the product. A coach who has watched your last few weeks can spot a pattern you cannot see from inside it, because she has the whole sequence and you only have today.
Compare that to the alternatives most women have tried:
- A support group where nobody is responsible for you specifically
- A forum where the advice is generic because the advice has to fit everyone
- An app that notices nothing
- A program where you get a different person each time and re-explain your life every call
We go through that comparison properly in one-on-one coaching vs group weight loss programs.
How you get matched with a coach
Matching happens after you join, not on the strategy call. The strategy call is with someone from the LWP team, not with a coach.
The match is based on practical things:
- Your goals. What you are actually trying to accomplish over the 12 weeks.
- Your starting point. Whether you are new to plant-based eating or have been vegan for a decade and are stuck.
- Your schedule. Time zones and the shape of your day.
If the match is not working, say so. That is a fixable problem and nobody is precious about it. A coaching relationship that is not clicking is worth raising in week two rather than enduring until week eleven.
What your coach actually does, week to week
Here is the real job description.
She builds the plan around your life, not a template. Your work schedule, your travel, whether you cook for a family who eats differently, whether you are managing an injury. The method is consistent. The application of it is not.
She translates calorie density into your kitchen. The concept is simple: how many calories are packed into a pound of food. Oil is roughly 4,000 calories per pound, non-starchy vegetables roughly 100, about a 40x difference. Knowing that is easy. Rebuilding your actual meals around it, with the food you like and the time you have, is the part where a coach earns her keep.
She picks which habit is next. This is the STACK Method, and it is more skill than it looks. Giving a client twelve things to change is how you get zero things changed. The daily work is three to four tiny habits that take about two minutes a day, boiled down from the data of thousands of women to the few with the biggest impact. Choosing the right ones for this specific week, in this specific order, is a judgment call. See what the STACK Method is.
She checks in and messages you every day. You eat and snap photos of your food, and your meals, habits and messages live in the LWP app. Your coach is actually looking at them. She is a real person, not a bot, not AI, and not a group chat with 200 women. That means a bad stretch gets caught the day it happens rather than being confessed a month later.
She adjusts when the scale stalls. Plateaus happen and they panic people. A coach who has seen hundreds of them knows the difference between a plateau that needs a change and one that needs you to hold steady for ten more days. More on that in what to do at a weight loss plateau.
She keeps you in it during the week you would have quit. Most women quit somewhere between week three and week six. A coach who notices at week three is the entire reason week seven exists.
She coaches you through the hard moments. What to do when a craving hits outside the house, what to do after a binge, how to bounce back fast, and how to use a bad day as a learning tool instead of a shame stick. That is the "next best" mindset: keep making the next best choice toward the person you are becoming.
She gets you moving, starting at Rep Zero. The first goal is the habit of showing up to a workout at all. Strength gets built from there, which protects your bone density and keeps the muscle you have as you age.
Around your coach, there is a weekly community group coaching call with the LWP coaches, and a Q&A every two weeks with Chelsea or Ami on long-term leanness literacy. Both are recorded, so you can watch later if you cannot make it live.
What a coach does not do
Being straight about the boundaries.
- She is not a medical provider. Coaching is not medical care and your coach will not tell you what to do about medication or a diagnosis. Anything in that territory belongs with your doctor.
- She does not eat for you. Coaching is support and structure, not substitution. You still do the work.
- She does not police your plate. You are a grown woman. Her job is to help you build a pattern you can sustain, not to audit you.
- She does not disappear after the sale. The coaching relationship is the thing you are paying for, not a bonus attached to a course.
What "trained in the LWP method" actually means
Every coach works from the same system, which is why the program produces consistent outcomes across a team rather than depending on one person's instinct.
The system has three pillars:
| Pillar | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Nutrition | Calorie density. Eating a larger volume of food, feeling full, losing weight without counting calories or weighing portions |
| Fitness and movement | Matched to your body and your current capacity, including coming back from injury or surgery |
| Accountability and habits | The STACK Method. Small behaviors stacked into a routine that holds after week 12 |
That shared method is why your coach's advice in week four lines up with what you heard in week one, and why the team has been able to coach over 3,000 women without the approach drifting.
Why a coach changes the result
A lot of women arrive already knowing what to do. They have read the books. They have watched the documentaries. They can tell you what whole food plant-based means.
Sam is the clearest illustration. She lost close to 70 pounds with Lean With Plants, and she already had the information before she started. What she did not have was accountability, and until she had it, the information sat there doing nothing.
That is the pattern more often than not. The missing piece is rarely knowledge. It is someone whose actual job is to notice.
Two more worth knowing about:
- Rena, 62, dealing with post-menopause weight gain, lost 24 pounds in 12 weeks and went from binge eating to binge-free. She had said she could never quit sugar.
- Dana lost 60 pounds in total, 35 of them after a long plateau once she joined. She works two jobs and travels constantly, which is exactly the situation where a template fails and a coach adapts.
More of these on our success stories page and in Lean With Plants reviews.
"Will my coach actually understand someone my age?"
Most Lean With Plants clients are in their forties, fifties and sixties. Some are in their seventies. That is not a footnote about our audience, it is the center of it.
So the coaching is built around what actually happens in those decades: menopause and the weight that shows up with it, slower recovery, joints that have opinions, caregiving, a job, a house, and a body that stopped responding to whatever worked at 32.
If you have ever been handed a plan that assumed you had two free hours and a twenty-five-year-old's recovery, you know how useless that is. We wrote more about this in plant-based weight loss for women over 50 and plant-based weight loss after 60.
Frequently asked questions
Who are the Lean With Plants coaches? The coaching team includes Abbie, Heidi and Jordan, with Ami as head coach. All coaches are trained in the LWP method and work one-on-one with clients. The current team is listed on the coaches page.
Do I get to choose my coach? You are matched based on your goals, your starting point and your schedule rather than picking from a list. If the match is not working, tell us and it can be changed.
Do I work with Chelsea Mae directly? Chelsea Mae founded Lean With Plants, created the method, and hosts the Lean With Plants podcast. Day-to-day coaching is delivered by the coaching team, who are trained in her method. Chelsea and Ami also run a Q&A every two weeks, and it is recorded.
How often do I speak to my coach? Every day. Your coach checks in and messages you daily in the LWP app and looks at your plate. On top of that there is a weekly community group coaching call with the LWP coaches, and a Q&A every two weeks with Chelsea or Ami. Both are recorded.
What if my coach and I are not a good fit? Raise it early. Changing coach is a normal request and it is better handled in week two than tolerated for three months.
Are the coaches qualified to give me medical advice? No, and they will not try to. Coaching covers nutrition, movement and habits. Anything medical stays with your doctor.
Talk to a person before you decide
You can read a coaching page all afternoon and still not know whether it would work for you specifically. That is a conversation, not a webpage.
Apply here and book a free strategy call. You will talk through your situation with a real person, hear exactly how the coaching program is structured, and get a straight answer about whether it is the right fit right now.
