What Actually Happens on a Lean With Plants Strategy Call
A plain walkthrough of the free call, including what gets asked and how pricing comes up.
A Lean With Plants strategy call is a free, 45-minute Zoom call with someone from our team. It is all about you: where you are today, what has kept you stuck, where you genuinely want to be, and how to bridge that gap. Lean With Plants is a 12-week one-on-one plant-based weight loss coaching program for women founded by Chelsea Mae Cullen, and the strategy call is the only place pricing is discussed. By the end of it, you are clear on who we are, we are clear on who you are, and we both know whether working together will actually help.
If you are the kind of person who wants to know exactly what she is walking into before she books anything, this article is for you. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
Why there is a call instead of a checkout button
You could argue we would sell more if we just put a button on the site and let people buy.
We probably would not. Nobody who runs a high-touch, one-on-one, high-support coaching program puts the price on the website, and the reason is simple: if women saw a number first, most of them would not show up to the conversation. If you do not show up, you never get the chance to find out whether this actually solves your problem.
There is also a practical reason. The 12-week program only works if the woman on the other end is a good match for it, and we only take women we can genuinely help. We do not work with women who have had a gastric bypass or a gastric sleeve, for example, because the modifications needed meant we could not get predictable, consistent results. Some women are not a fit for coaching at all right now, and the honest answer is to tell them that. You cannot sort that out through a shopping cart.
So the call exists to answer two questions: can we help you, and do you want the help.
Step one: the application comes first
Before the call, you fill in a short application.
It asks about the basics. Your age range, your history with weight loss, what you have already tried, roughly where you are starting, what is going on in your life right now, and what you are hoping will be different in three months.
Two reasons for this:
- It saves you time on the call. The person you speak to has already read your answers. You do not spend the first fifteen minutes explaining your backstory.
- It filters honestly in both directions. Some applications make it obvious that coaching is not the right move right now, and we will say so rather than booking a call to talk you into it.
After you apply, you choose a time from the available slots and book the strategy call.
Who you actually speak to
Someone from the Lean With Plants team, on Zoom. A real person, not a bot, not an automated video, not a call center reading from a card.
This is someone who does these conversations every day, has read your application before dialing, and has spoken to hundreds of women with a history that probably rhymes with yours.
One thing worth clearing up: the person on the strategy call is not Chelsea and it is not your coach. Coach matching happens after you join, and it is based on your goals, your schedule and who has availability. You can read more about how the coaching team works and see the current team on the coaches page.
How long it takes and what to have ready
The call takes 45 minutes.
Be somewhere quiet when you take it, ideally on a laptop. That matters more than you would think, because the useful part of the conversation is the part where you say the thing you do not usually say out loud. The 9pm kitchen. The wine. The fact that you have lost the same twenty pounds four times.
Once you have booked, someone from our team will text you personally. Reply YES so the team knows you are coming.
Two things are worth doing beforehand:
- Watch the short videos on your confirmation page. They cover the basics (what it costs, what coaching looks like day to day, whether it works through menopause), so your 45 minutes can be about you rather than the basics.
- Bring the list of everything you have tried. Every diet, program, app, challenge and gym membership. The team genuinely wants to hear about it, because the pattern in your history tells us more than your starting weight does.
You do not need food logs, a weigh-in or a spreadsheet. It also helps to have your actual questions ready. Write them down beforehand if you are the type to forget them in the moment. Price, time commitment, food, travel, your knees, your husband who will not eat this way. All fair game.
What actually gets asked
The call is all about you and your dieting history, and it runs in four parts.
- Where you are today. Your health, your weight, and your behaviors around food. Whether you are already plant-based, how you feel day to day, what your week actually looks like.
- Looking backwards. The trigger moments that actually caused the weight gain. The real reason you bought the gym membership and only used it for a month. The real reason you have been stuck, or have lost weight and gained it back. Everybody knows how weight loss works in theory. This part is about what is stopping you from getting consistent.
- Looking forward. Your genuine goal, not just the one you think is attainable. Is it 40 pounds? Six-pack abs? Running a marathon? We talk about the long-term goal on purpose, because the point is what happens when your habits stay consistent for the rest of your life, not just the next three months.
- Bridging the gap. Once we know where you want to go and what has been holding you back, we look at how to close that gap. Spoiler: it is systemic habit change, behavioral change tools, and identity-level change, so you can live at your goal weight knowing you do not have to gain it back.
If part of you is thinking "honestly, I do not believe this will work for me," say that out loud on the call. It is a useful thing to say, and it is exactly the kind of history the call is there to dig into.
Why it is not a conversation about calories
Once we understand your situation, the conversation turns to whether the LWP method actually addresses it. Lean With Plants is not a dieting program, so this is not a lecture on calories. We care less about how many calories you are eating and more about why you self-sabotage.
If you are already plant-based and stuck, part of the gap is often a skill nobody has taught you: building a plate that is optimized for fat loss. We go deeper on that in calorie density explained and why some vegans gain weight.
You will also get a clear picture of what the coaching program looks like day to day: a dedicated coach who checks in and messages you daily in the LWP app, a weekly group coaching call, a Q&A every two weeks, and a handful of tiny daily habits instead of calorie counting.
When and how pricing comes up
Pricing comes up on the call, near the end, after we both understand whether this is a fit.
We do not publish a number on the website, and I want to be straight about why. Nobody who runs a high-touch, one-on-one coaching program does, because if women saw a price first, most would never show up to the conversation that tells them whether this solves their problem.
Here is what we can say up front:
- It is not cheap, and we will not pretend it is. It is not comparable to an e-book, a gym membership, Optavia or Weight Watchers.
- It is also not the crazy number most women imagine. For most women it is very doable. The women who work with us are normal working women and retirees with some savings set aside, not millionaires.
- We partner with Klarna and Affirm for payment plans. We can get creative. If it is the right fit, we want to make it work, and we normally can.
The real number, the one specific to you, your situation, what you need and how we can get creative, is what gets talked about on the call, in plain terms, with what is included spelled out. There is a fuller discussion in how much Lean With Plants costs.
You are not asked to decide before you have heard the number. That would be absurd.
How the call ends
By the end of the call, you are 100% clear on who we are, we are 100% clear on who you are, and we both know whether working together will actually help.
If it is a fit and you both say yes, you get set up straight away. If it is not, we part ways and you leave with more clarity than you arrived with. And if we do not think it will work for you, we will tell you. Lean With Plants only survives if our clients get phenomenal results, so enrolling someone we cannot help is not a win for anyone.
You can also say no, and you will not be argued with for twenty minutes. If the reason for the no is a real obstacle, like money or a spouse, we would rather talk about it on the call than have you leave with an unanswered question rattling around. If the reason is that you do not want it, that is a complete answer and we take it at face value.
What happens if you say yes
If you both say yes, the next steps happen quickly:
- You get set up with the LWP app and your onboarding materials.
- You are matched with a coach based on your goals and schedule.
- Your coach starts checking in and messaging you in the app.
- Week one starts, and it is more about assessment and setup than a dramatic overhaul. There is a week-by-week breakdown in our results timeline.
Nobody will promise you a number on the call, because this is behavior change, not a magic pill. What you get instead is an honest account of how results vary, and of the two things that almost always explain it when someone does not get results: ghosting, and not letting herself be coached. That is laid out in does Lean With Plants work.
"I just do not want to be sold to"
I understand this one completely. It is the single most common hesitation about booking, and it is a fair thing to be wary of in this industry.
So here is the honest framing. Is this a sales call? The short answer is yes. Our clients pay us to teach them how to escape the dieting trap, so they do not have to do this for the next 40 years. Pretending otherwise would be insulting your intelligence.
What it is not is a scripted pitch aimed at anyone with a pulse. We have coached over 3,000 women and we know quite precisely who this works for and who it does not. Telling someone yes when the answer is no costs us more than it earns, because she does not get results, she does not refer anyone, and she was right to be skeptical in the first place.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Lean With Plants strategy call free? Yes. The call costs nothing and there is no obligation to join anything at the end of it. You apply first, then choose a time that works for you.
How long is the strategy call? 45 minutes, on Zoom, with someone from the Lean With Plants team. Be somewhere quiet, ideally on a laptop, and watch the videos on your confirmation page first so the time can be about you.
Do I have to be on video? It helps, because it is a real conversation about personal things and that is easier face to face. It is not a requirement.
Will I find out the price on the call? Yes. Pricing is discussed on the call once we both understand your situation, along with what is included and how the Klarna and Affirm payment plans work. That is the only place we give a number.
Do I have to already be vegan or plant-based to book a call? No. Many women who book are eating a standard diet, and many are already plant-based and stuck. Both are common. See do you have to be vegan for the longer answer.
What if I know I cannot afford it right now? Say that on the call. It is not the crazy number most women imagine, there are payment plan options, and we can get creative. If it is the right fit, we want to make it work, and we normally can. If we do not think it will work for you, we will tell you.
If you want your questions answered by a person
Reading about a program only gets you so far. At some point you need a real conversation about your actual situation, with someone who can tell you honestly whether this would work for you.
That is what the call is for. Apply here, pick a time, and bring your questions. If the answer turns out to be no, you will still leave with a clearer view of why the last few attempts did not stick.
