What coaching with Lean With Plants looks like

Lean With Plants is a 12-week one-on-one plant-based weight loss coaching program for women, founded by Chelsea Mae Cullen. Clients work with a dedicated coach through three pillars (nutrition based on calorie density, fitness and movement, and accountability and habits through the STACK Method), with daily check-ins and messages from that coach in the LWP app, a weekly group coaching call, and a Q&A every two weeks. The team has coached over 3,000 women, and the average client loses around 18 pounds in 12 weeks.

That is the whole thing in a paragraph. The rest of this page is the detail.

The problem it was built to solve

Most weight loss programs assume you do not know what a vegetable is.

Lean With Plants assumes the opposite. It was built for women who are already eating reasonably well, often already plant-based or vegan, and who are still stuck. That is a specific and deeply frustrating situation, and it has a specific cause.

In 2018, at her heaviest after having a baby, Chelsea was eating a whole food plant-based diet and not losing weight. She did everything the internet told her to and the scale stayed where it was. What eventually changed things was not more discipline. It was understanding calorie density, and then building habits that did not depend on motivation. She lost 40 pounds and has kept it off for around seven years, without counting calories. The full version is on her story page.

The method that came out of that is what clients get now, delivered by a coach instead of by trial and error.

The three pillars

1. Nutrition, built on calorie density

Calorie density means how many calories are packed into a pound of food.

Oil sits at roughly 4,000 calories per pound. Non-starchy vegetables sit at roughly 100 calories per pound. That is around a 40x difference between two things that can end up in the same salad.

Your stomach measures volume and weight. It does not measure calories. So when you shift what your plate is built out of, you can eat a physically larger amount of food, get genuinely full, and still lose weight. No counting. No weighing. No app telling you that you have 180 calories left for the evening.

This is also the answer to the "I'm vegan and gaining weight" problem. Plant-based does not automatically mean low in calorie density. Oil, nuts, nut butters, dressings, granola and vegan convenience foods are all extremely calorie-dense, which is why some vegans gain weight while eating food that looks immaculate.

2. Fitness and movement

The movement side is scaled to the body you currently have, not the body a program wishes you had.

For one client that means strength work three times a week. For another it means walking and mobility while she waits on a hip replacement. The goal is to build strength and keep it, particularly for women going through and past menopause, when protecting muscle matters more than burning calories on a machine.

Nobody is asked to exercise their way out of their nutrition. That is not how this works, and it never has been.

3. Accountability and habits: the STACK Method

The STACK Method is the habit system. You build small behaviors deliberately and stack them until the routine runs itself.

This is the least glamorous pillar and the most important one, because it is what decides whether week thirteen looks like week twelve. A plan you follow with effort is a diet. A plan that runs on autopilot is just your life. That distinction is the entire difference between losing weight and keeping it off, which is why accountability is the missing piece in most programs.

How the program is structured

Here is what the twelve weeks actually contain.

  • A dedicated coach. You are matched with one coach who works with you for the whole program. Coaches include Abbie, Heidi and Jordan, and Ami is head coach. They are trained in the LWP method and work with clients directly. You can meet them on the coaches page.
  • Daily check-ins and messages from your coach. She is a real person, not a bot, not AI, and not a group chat with 200 women. She knows your name and your struggles, looks at your plate, holds you to a higher standard, and coaches you through the blind spots you cannot see yourself.
  • Photos of your food, not calorie counts. You eat, you snap a photo, and your coach coaches you until you can build a weight-loss-optimized plate every time, whether you are eating out or craving pizza at 9pm. You never count a calorie.
  • Three to four tiny habits. They take about two minutes a day. They are not random: they were boiled down from the data of thousands of women to the few things with the biggest impact, and if you do them, you get results.
  • Movement from Rep Zero. Building the habit of showing up to the workout first, then strength over time, to protect your bone density and keep your muscle as you age.
  • A weekly group coaching call with the LWP coaches, and a Q&A every two weeks on long-term leanness literacy. All calls are recorded, so you can catch the replay.
  • The LWP app, where everything lives in one place: your meals, messaging, community, recipes and workouts, instead of scattered across social media. More detail in inside the LWP app.

Along the way, your coach guides you through the real-life parts: building your day-to-day plates and routines, what to do when a craving hits outside the house, where prep fits, what to do after a binge, how to bounce back fast, and how to use a bad day as a learning tool instead of a shame stick.

The 12-week program is the flagship. There is more in how long is the Lean With Plants program and on the how it works page.

Who it is for

Lean With Plants is built for women who:

  • Are in their forties, fifties, sixties or seventies and have noticed that what used to work no longer does
  • Are already plant-based or vegan and are not losing weight
  • Want to move toward plant-based eating but do not want to be hungry doing it
  • Have a long dieting history and are tired of starting over
  • Are dealing with menopause or post-menopause weight gain
  • Know what to do in theory and cannot make it happen consistently on their own
  • Want the result to last past the end of the program

Molly is a fair example of the core case. She is in her sixties, lost 33 pounds in 18 weeks, and is in her smallest size in 28 years. Not in her smallest size since college, in her smallest size in nearly three decades of adult life.

The honest version of who it is not for is on its own page: who Lean With Plants is for, and who it is not for.

What Lean With Plants is not

Defining the edges matters as much as defining the middle.

  • It is not a meal delivery service. You shop and cook. You are taught how to build meals, not mailed them.
  • It is not a group program. The coaching is one-on-one, which is the main structural difference from most of the market. See one-on-one versus group coaching.
  • It is not medical care. It is weight loss coaching, not treatment for any condition, and it is not a substitute for your doctor.
  • It is not a calorie counting app. The entire point is that you stop tracking and build meals differently instead.
  • It is not a crash diet. Twelve weeks is a behavior change cycle, not a sprint before an event.
  • It does not require you to already be vegan. See do you have to be vegan to join.

What results look like

The honest number is an average: the average client loses around 18 pounds in twelve weeks, across a team that has coached over 3,000 women.

An average is not a forecast for one person. Individual results vary with starting point, age, history and consistency. We have had exceptional results, average results and some disappointing ones, and average means slightly slower progress, not nothing. When someone does not get results, it is almost always one of two things: ghosting, or not letting herself be coached. Full explanation in does Lean With Plants work.

How you actually join

  1. Apply. The application covers your history, your goal and where you are stuck.
  2. Book a free strategy call. A 45-minute Zoom call with someone from the LWP team who has read your application.
  3. Talk through your situation. Where you are today, what has kept you stuck, where you genuinely want to be, and how to bridge the gap.
  4. Get your number. The investment specific to you and your situation, and the payment plan options through our partners Klarna and Affirm.
  5. Get set up, or part ways. If it is a fit and you both say yes, you get set up straight away. If it is not, you leave with more clarity, and if we do not think it will work for you, we will tell you.

Pricing is given on the call rather than published, because if women saw a number first, most would never show up to the conversation that tells them whether this solves their problem. The reasoning is laid out in how much Lean With Plants costs, and the call itself is described in what happens on a strategy call.
